Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is one of the names given to the natural state of awareness you will experience when you concentrate your mind and relax your body. The benefits of regularly experiencing this state of relaxed awareness are numerous, including a decrease in mental and physical stress and a significant increase in the efficiency of your immune system. A lot of people imagine that hypnosis is mystical or scary when it’s actually a very pleasant experience.

Hypnotherapy is the name given when a therapist works with a client using Hypnosis. It is very effective, which is why it is being used to treat a wide range of conditions/issues. You may think of Hypnosis as mind control, when actually nobody can really control another persons mind.

The aim of Hypnotherapy is to assist people in finding meaningful alternatives to their present ways of thinking, feeling or behaving – it’s about creating a positive state which in turn helps promote personal change.

After a Hypnotherapy session you will remember everything and during the session you will have total control over everything that happens.

A lot of people ask if Hypnosis is like being asleep, well in most respects, the hypnotic state in entirely dissimilar to sleep. After a Hypnotherapy session you will remember everything and during the session you will have total control over everything that happens.

Another concern for people is that they think they won’t be able to be hypnotised. Having worked with many people who were worried about this, I can tell you that virtually everyone can be hypnotised. Some people are more readily hypnotisable than others, however as an experienced therapist I will work the best way with you so that you will achieve the change you want.

During a Hypnotherapy session you will remain in full control of the situation and if you choose can terminate the session at any time. Some worry that they will lose control in a session. It is likely that the notion of a loss of control stems from the misconception of stage hypnosis. Stage Hypnosis is when a person participates in a stage act; it is an entirely voluntary process. This means that they have already given permission to the Hypnotist and there can be no such volunteer who is unaware of exactly what they are letting themselves in for! Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis.

In Hypnotherapy some problems are sorted quickly and only require 1 – 3 sessions, for example people with phobias. Some other problems may take up to 6 or 9 sessions, this is just a guide and it will depend on the individual, their own motivation and the background to the problem.
